Dave B. and Mike E., with Scoutmasters Billy T. and Gary T., turned
what Scouting teaches boys and young men through such things as
caving and mountain climbing into the Venture Crew, a search-and-
rescue crew. Barnes and Eames, along with Barne’s mom, got state
certification in search and rescue.
For his Eagle Service project Dave obtained several old U.S. Mail
Drop boxes and reconditioned them to be used as Flag Depositories.
You may have seen these old "red" mail boxes. One was placed in
the town of Amherst and the other at the American Legion Post in
Madison Heights, as a place for citizens to place worn and unusable
American Flags for proper retirement. The retirement of these flags
will continue by members of Troop 37 in remembrance of Dave.
